Scaling to $50k/MRR with Smartlead.ai Infrastructure
How we built a white-label cold email infrastructure for a lead gen agency using Smartlead's API.

The Challenge: Agency Operations Hell
Scaling a lead generation agency is a logistical nightmare. For our client, managing 50 clients meant juggling 500+ Google Workspace inboxes, manually checking deliverability, and pasting screenshots into weekly reports.
They were spending 40 hours/week just on admin. They needed a robust cold email infrastructure to break through the $50k MRR ceiling.
The Solution: Headless Smartlead Architecture
We identified Smartlead.ai as the best backend for this scale due to its unlimited warmup and API-first design. But we didn't just use the dashboard; we built on top of it.
The Automation Stack
- Automated Onboarding (n8n): When a new client signs up via Stripe, a workflow triggers that:
- Buys 10 domains via Namecheap API.
- Configures DNS (DKIM, DMARC, SPF) automatically.
- Creates workspaces in Google Admin.
- Adds mailboxes to Smartlead and starts warmup.
- White-Label Client Portal: We built a custom dashboard (using Bubble) that pulls campaign data via the Smartlead API. Clients log in to see their results under the agency's branding, never knowing Smartlead exists.
Why Smartlead for Agencies?
As a smartlead expert, we leveraged features that most agencies ignore:
- Global Blocklist: Automatically blocking bad domains across all 50 clients.
- Master Inbox: Routing replies from 500 inboxes to a unified Slack channel for instant response.
The Outcome
The agency successfully scaled to $50k MRR with the same headcount. Client onboarding time dropped from 3 days to 5 minutes. They transitioned from a service provider to a tech-enabled agency automation platform.
